Beaver Scouts (6-8)

Monday 6pm - 7.15pm & Wednesday 6pm - 7.15pm

Beaver Scouts is the first and youngest section in the Scout Movement for 6 - 8 year olds.

As a Beaver, your child will join their Colony in exploring the outdoors, delving into creative crafts, discovering their community, playing games and making friends.

After a few weeks of attending Beaver Scouts, your child will be "invested". This is when they promise to do their best and help others.

Scouting opens the eyes of young people to a world of extraordinary possibilities.

Activities

Earn badges, get active and embrace the challenge!

We believe that young people learn by doing, so our Beaver Scout Programme is bursting at the seams with a magnificent variety of activities, which engage and challenge young people of all abilities.

You can expect your child to get involved in:

  • sleepovers
  • water activities
  • nature walks
  • cooking
  • crafts
  • sports
  • and many more…

The Beaver Scout Promise

The Beaver Scout Promise helps Beavers to understand and remember the values of Scouting.

Every young person and Leader makes their Promise as part of being invested into Scouting. Speak to your Leader to find out more about investiture.

Help your child to choose the Promise that is right for them.

For Christians, Jews and Sikhs

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love God

For Hindus and Buddhists

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love my Dharma

For humanists, atheists and those with no defined faith

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love our world

For Muslims

I promise to do my best
To be kind and helpful
And to love Allah

Peace of mind

To ensure your child is safe, Leaders adhere to our anti-bullying, equal opportunities, safety and child protection policies.

Beaver Scouts take part in activities and learn new skills under the supervision of adult volunteers.

They work effectively and safely with young people to deliver the Scout Programme and have access to training to support them in their role.

If you have any questions, get in touch with your local Leader to put your mind at ease.

Skills for life

Scouting is more than just having fun: Beaver Scouts learn skills that are essential to their personal development and reaching their full potential.

As well as developing a range of practical skills, your child will have the chance to develop skills such as:

  • teamwork
  • problem solving
  • communication
  • and responsibility.
